Challenge Team

  • The team should have a maximum of 8 students
  • Students must currently be attending high school
  • Ideally the team should possess a broad range of complementary skills and knowledge (science and technology, business, marketing and communication)

Venues

  • should be fit for purpose, with 24-hour access for the team and if possible 'sleepover' arrangements
  • should, as a minimum, have e-mail capability and Internet access.
  • Web streaming, if available, will enable you to show your Challenge over the course of 24 hours via your own web site, which will be linked to the Enterprise Olympics web site.

The Challenge

  • will be announced via web streaming and e-mail at 12.00 noon British Summer Time (BST) on Wednesday 18th June
  • will be completed 24 hours later at 12.00 BST on Thursday 19th June

Support

  • The team should have access to a facilitator at key stages during the 24-hour period
  • Facilitators can be drawn from the business community, business support services, or academia
  • The facilitator is there to support and motivate, not instruct or direct.

Challenge Rules

  • There are no rules regarding how a team responds to the challenge
  • To allow creativity to flourish; the answer to any requests for clarification will remain the same: 'Refer to the Challenge brief'.
  • To complete the Challenge the team will submit via e-mail a 2-page mini-business plan by a set deadline, and make a 3-minute presentation in accordance with the event running order.

Presentations

The presentation will be in English (an interpreter may be used) and include up to a maximum of 4 PowerPoint slides.

The Judging

  • team's response to the Challenge will be assessed against the judging criteria that will be issued in advance
  • The international judging panel will comprise senior officials from NASA, who will receive the mini-business plans before the presentations begin.The presentations can be made in three ways:
    • Pre-recorded and e-mailed via FTP file
    • Live via videoconference
    • Live via web streaming
Each presentation will be seen by the judges in the same format in a dedicated room within the venue of the host country (Scotland).

Announcement of Winners

The Chair of the judging panel will announce the international winner live via web streaming at 15.15 hours British Summer Time.
