The German host for the Enterprise Olympics is the Mainz Network for New
Business (MaGNet). MaGNet was created as a EU financed development
partnership, backed up by several national governmental departments. The
networks main interest is to facilitate and support the establishment of
new business enterprises. This also includes projects at local schools
in order to increase the entrepreneurial awareness of young people.
Our team will be the first and only team in Germany. It consist of nine
students, six girls and three boys, from a local high school, the
Gymnasium Nieder-Olm. All team members attend the same social studies
class and are in their last but one year before graduation. The nine
participants were elected by the whole class, based on their skills and
experiences acquired while managing a student-company, founded for a
twelve month period during the last school term. Their company
successfully created a marketing agency which organised events for young
and still not very famous artists to make them more known to a regional
level. In addition they sold their works via the Internet.
The event will take place in their school and is supported by the
Ministry of economics in Rhineland-Palatinate and the Internationaler
Bund, an independent non-profit organisation, engaged in youth and
social work, education and training.
