Eighty Young Enterprise students from 42 New Zealand Schools are arriving in Wellington on Tuesday to compete in the 2003 Enterprise Olympics.

The Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) is one of several Enterprise Education programmes run by Enterprise New Zealand, a charitable trust that obtains its support and funding from the business community of New Zealand. YES is sponsored by the Lion Foundation.

As well as the business sector the Enterprise Olympics is receiving specific support from the Ministry of Education, Industry New Zealand and Wellington City Council who are providing their prestigious convention centre free of charge as New Zealand Mission Control.

The eighty students to compete in the Enterprise Olympics are chosen as representatives of their regions. They will join with complete strangers to form the New Zealand teams that will compete for the right to represent New Zealand. In preparation the students will hear presentations on good business practice and triple bottom line reporting from New Zealand business leaders, and will enjoy the hospitality of major New Zealand companies as they work in their boardrooms to meet this years challenge.

The fact that New Zealand won the inaugural Enterprise Olympics in 2002 has created a lot of interest and both schools and the local communities look to this year's group of Young Enterprisers to confirm New Zealand's reputation for innovation and entrepreneurship.
